How being Proactive will change your life forever?

Life has always been a mystery to me; I literally have no clue to what I will be doing 10 or 20 years from now. But one thing I know for sure is, I want to be happy doing whatever I am gonna do. I have always believed that what I am today is because of the decisions I had taken in the past. And it is the same with all of you guys, if you are not happy with your life it is no one’s fault except yours. Yes, there is always an option to blame others or even the society for the position you are in.

If you want to lead a healthy lifestyle with no regrets at all then read on.

I have once read a book called The 7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey (I love his work) in it, he explains one of the main characteristics for leading a happy life, Be Proactive. He says that there are two types of people in this world, Proactive ones and Reactive ones.

Difference between proactive and reactive people.

Reactive people always think that they know enough and they don’t see the point of learning (this was my attitude back in high school), whereas Proactive People always keep learning and developing themselves no matter what age they are or how busy they are, learning will be their first priority.

Reactive people always blame their environment for their failure whereas Proactive people always take responsibility for their actions.

Throughout my life, I have always been in environments which consistently rejected me but the one thought that kept me going was, we cannot always control the environment but what we can control is our response to our environment.

In 1914 a huge fire broke out and burned a whole lot of industrial building among which was the building of the great inventor Thomas Edison, he stood there watching the flames when his son came up running and crying, he stopped his son and asked him to enjoy the view, and said that this is a one-time spectacle and you will not see such an event ever again (oh god what a great mentality, I really like his way of thinking).

The next day he looked at the ruins and said something incredible “There is great value in disaster. All our mistakes are burned up. Thank God we can start anew.”

Now friends, this must be our outlook towards life. We should not be concerned about things that we cannot control; think about your friends who always argue about politics, terrorism or an earthquake, which they have no control over. Now these events are important and necessary as information that will go down in history but believe me when I say this, these are not matters on which you should waste your emotional strength or willpower. (I have written an article before on do you have enough will power to be successful, it will help you better understand what I am talking about).

Rather focus on the thing that you can control like, how you treat people, your work, and personal ethics, what you value in life etc. You should always have high self-esteem.

Becoming proactive will help you turn your life around and I hope that this article has given you a new way of looking at the world. And if your point of view changes you will start to see the positive results in just a matter of weeks and someday in the future share with us how your journey went. All the best guys.
